Service & Installation Notes

1. Ensure the engine is shut off and completely cool, and disconnect the battery or disable the ignition to prevent accidental starting before servicing the exhaust passage.
2. Gain access to the exhaust water shutter mounting location and remove any damaged shutter remnants or debris from the exhaust passage.
3. Compare the replacement water shutter against the existing part and housing, verifying the wider body, flat tip, and 2.98 in. diameter at the cross pin.
4. Install the water shutter in the orientation specified by your engine service manual and verify that the flapper pivots freely without binding.
5. Reassemble the exhaust connections according to manual procedures; if abnormal exhaust noise, restriction, or leakage occurs during operation, stop the engine immediately and inspect the installation.
