Referenced to Mercury Mariner 807166A2, this version features a wider profile, a flat tip, and a 2.98 in. diameter at the cross pin.

Service & Installation Notes

1. Allow the engine and exhaust system to cool completely, shut off the engine, and disconnect the battery to prevent accidental starting before servicing.
2. Inspect the exhaust passage for fragments of the previous shutter and compare the replacement shutter's flat-tip profile and 2.98 in. cross-pin diameter against the housing.
3. Install the shutter in the orientation specified by the engine service manual and verify that the flapper pivots freely on the cross pin without binding.
4. After reassembly, run the engine only with a proper cooling water supply and inspect the exhaust connections; shut down and inspect immediately if abnormal noise or leakage occurs.
