Exhaust Water Shutter Set, 2 Pieces for MerCruiser V6 & V8 (1998-Up)

This two-piece exhaust water shutter flapper valve set is built for MerCruiser Stern / Out Drive V6 and V8 engines from 1998 onward, where each individual shutter corresponds to OEM reference 807166A1. It will not work on V6 engines that originally came with one-piece exhaust manifolds.

Check whether the engine is a 1998-or-later V6 or V8 application, and on V6 engines verify the original exhaust manifold design before selecting this set.

Service & Installation Notes

General service guidance only. Use the service manual for your exact engine and exhaust configuration.

1. Shut off the engine, allow all exhaust components to cool completely, and disconnect the starting circuit to prevent accidental cranking during service.
2. Verify the exhaust manifold setup before disassembly; do not install this set on a V6 engine that originally came with one-piece manifolds.
3. Inspect the exhaust passage and mounting area for debris or remnants of damaged shutter components before installing the new water shutters.
4. Seat the shutters according to the factory service manual for your specific MerCruiser exhaust layout and check that the flappers move freely without binding.
5. If any abnormal exhaust noise, restriction, or leakage is observed after reassembly, stop engine operation immediately and inspect the exhaust assembly.
