Dry-Joint Exhaust Elbow Restrictor Gasket — Standard Cooling
This aftermarket restrictor-type dry-joint exhaust elbow gasket (referencing MerCruiser OEM 27-864850A02) seals the joint between a compatible dry-joint exhaust manifold and riser/elbow in standard-cooling installations. It fits MerCruiser GM V6 and V8 small-block engines (4.3L, 5.0L, 5.7L, and 6.2L), including 2002–2004 models equipped with 7° dry-joint elbows and 2005–2010 models equipped with 14° dry-joint elbows.
This is the restrictor flow configuration only, not the full-flow/open or block-off/closed gasket version, and it is a gasket product rather than a complete manifold or riser assembly.
Configuration & Specifications
| Joint Architecture | Dry Joint (standard manifold and riser/elbow interface) |
|---|---|
| Flow Configuration | Restrictor |
| Cooling Configuration | Standard Cooling |
| Compatible Elbow Designs | 7° dry-joint elbow (2002–2004 applications); 14° dry-joint elbow (2005–2010 applications) |
Engine Applications
Designed for MerCruiser Stern / Out Drive GM V6 and V8 small-block applications equipped with a dry-joint standard manifold and riser under standard cooling. Because dry-joint exhaust gaskets share a similar outer footprint, verify your required OEM part number, cooling configuration, and restrictor water-passage layout before ordering rather than matching by external shape alone.
- MerCruiser GM V6 & V8 Small Block (2002–2004) — Dry Joint exhaust system with 7° elbow design; Standard Cooling; requires Restrictor elbow gasket. Fits when specified
- MerCruiser GM V6 & V8 Small Block (2005–2010) — Dry Joint exhaust system with 14° elbow design; Standard Cooling; requires Restrictor elbow gasket. Fits when specified
- MerCruiser 4.3L, 5.0L, 5.7L & 6.2L (GM V6 & V8 Small Block) — Utilizing Dry Joint Standard Manifold and Riser; Standard Cooling; requires Restrictor elbow gasket. Fits when specified
Not Suitable For
Exhaust joints requiring a Full-Flow (Open) or Block-Off (Closed) dry-joint elbow gasket configuration.

Service & Installation Notes
General service guidance only. Use the service manual for your exact engine and exhaust configuration.
- Allow the engine and exhaust system to cool completely, disconnect the battery to prevent accidental starting, and drain the exhaust cooling passages before loosening elbow fasteners.
- Support the heavy exhaust elbow/riser during removal, clean both dry-joint mating surfaces thoroughly, and protect the machined sealing faces from scratches or gouges.
- Compare the replacement restrictor gasket ports against the removed gasket and the OEM service manual diagram to make sure the water-passage slots match your standard-cooling layout.
- Position the gasket and tighten the riser/elbow fasteners to the sequence and torque values specified in your MerCruiser service manual.
- Supply cooling water when starting the engine, inspect the dry-joint interface for water or exhaust leaks, and shut down immediately for inspection if abnormal temperature or leakage occurs.
The Serdamarine Approach
Exhaust parts need a configuration match. Serdamarine focuses on marine exhaust manifolds and their related service parts. Application details, connection requirements and public reference numbers are presented together to support part selection.
Questions Before Replacement
Can this gasket be used in place of a full-flow or block-off dry-joint gasket?
No. This part is specifically the restrictor version (referencing MerCruiser 27-864850A02, GLM 37900, and Sierra 18-0722) for standard-cooling installations. Full-flow (open) and block-off (closed) dry-joint gaskets regulate cooling water differently and are not interchangeable with the restrictor version even though their outer perimeter looks similar.
Does this gasket fit both 7° and 14° MerCruiser dry-joint elbows?
Yes, when the installation uses a dry-joint standard manifold and riser with standard cooling and calls for the restrictor gasket configuration. It covers GM V6 and V8 small-block dry-joint setups using 7° elbows (2002–2004) as well as 14° elbows (2005–2010).
