Exhaust Elbow and Spacer Gasket for MerCruiser GM V6 & V8 Center-Riser Open Applications
This aftermarket exhaust elbow and spacer gasket corresponds to MerCruiser reference 27-863726 and seals the exhaust manifold, elbow, and spacer interfaces on specified MerCruiser GM V6 and V8 configurations. It aligns with the center-riser open passage layout (such as 27-860232 / GLM 32080) for designated wet-joint models (1981 and up or 1983 through 0M serial numbers, depending on engine family) and specified GM V6/V8 small-block Dry Joint "Alternative" manifold/spacer interfaces (0M serial numbers and up).
Configuration & Specifications
| Interface Location | Exhaust manifold, elbow, and spacer sealing interfaces (manifold/spacer interface on specified Dry Joint "Alternative" setups) |
|---|---|
| Passage Configuration | Center-riser open gasket layout (corresponds to 27-860232 / GLM 32080; distinct from restricted 27-860233 / GLM 30240 and closed 27-860231 / GLM 30220 versions) |
| Exhaust Joint Design | Specified Wet Joint systems and GM V6/V8 Small Block Dry Joint "Alternative" configurations |
Engine Applications
This gasket fits the MerCruiser GM V6 and V8 exhaust applications listed below. Match the engine family, cubic-inch displacement, exhaust-joint design, required passage layout, and serial-number range to your assembly before ordering.
- MerCruiser Model 175-205 (V6, GM 229 / 262 CID) — Year / serial phase: 1983 – 0M SN#’s. Exhaust configuration: Wet Joint. Interface: Exhaust manifold, elbow, and spacer. Fits when specified
- MerCruiser Model 200-320 (V8 Small Block, GM 305 / 350 / 377 CID) — Year / serial phase: 1983 – 0M SN#’s. Exhaust configuration: Wet Joint. Interface: Exhaust manifold, elbow, and spacer. Fits when specified
- MerCruiser Model 330-370 (V8 Big Block, GM 454 / 502 CID) — Years: 1981 and up. Exhaust configuration: Wet Joint. Interface: Exhaust manifold, elbow, and spacer. Fits when specified
- MerCruiser GM V6 / V8 Small Block — Serial numbers: 0M and up. Exhaust configuration: Dry Joint "Alternative" system at the manifold/spacer interface. Fits when specified
Application Check Required
- Mercury Mariner 200 (DFI / EFI), 200 PRO XS, 225 (EFI / DFI), 225 SEAPRO, 250 (DFI / EFI) 3.0L — Listed in supplementary notes without specific exhaust interface or serial-number details. Verify by OEM part number 27-863726 and physical gasket passage layout against your engine parts diagram. Confirm application

Service & Installation Notes
General service guidance only. Use the service manual for your exact engine and exhaust configuration.
- Allow the engine and exhaust assembly to cool completely, shut off the battery switch, and take precautions to prevent accidental starting before loosening any exhaust hardware.
- Support heavy exhaust elbows and spacers during disassembly so weight does not damage threads or cast sealing surfaces.
- Clean old gasket material and corrosion from the mating surfaces of the manifold, spacer, and elbow without gouging or rounding the machined sealing faces.
- Compare the new open center-riser gasket side-by-side with the required cooling passage layout for that specific joint; do not substitute an open gasket where your cooling diagram specifies a restricted (27-860233) or closed block-off (27-860231) gasket.
- Tighten fasteners evenly in the sequence and to the torque specification listed in the engine manufacturer's service manual. After assembly, inspect the joint for exhaust or water leaks during initial operation and stop the engine immediately if any abnormality occurs.
The Serdamarine Approach
Exhaust parts need a configuration match. Serdamarine focuses on marine exhaust manifolds and their related service parts. Application details, connection requirements and public reference numbers are presented together to support part selection.
Questions Before Replacement
How does 27-863726 / 27-860232 differ from 27-860233 and 27-860231?
Reference 27-860232 (GLM 32080) is the center-riser open passage gasket. MerCruiser 27-860233 (GLM 30240) is the restricted flow version, and 27-860231 (GLM 30220) is the closed block-off version. Each serves a specific water-routing role in the exhaust assembly and cannot be used interchangeably.
Does this gasket fit all MerCruiser Dry Joint exhaust manifolds?
No. For 0M and up GM V6 and V8 small-block engines, this gasket applies only to the manifold/spacer interface in a Dry Joint "Alternative" system, as well as the listed wet-joint configurations (Model 175-205 V6 229/262 CID 1983–0M, Model 200-320 V8 S.B. 305/350/377 CID 1983–0M, and Model 330-370 V8 B.B. 454/502 CID 1981 & up). It does not fit every factory dry-joint connection.
