Service & Installation Notes

1. Allow the engine and exhaust components to cool completely, and disconnect the battery or disable the ignition to prevent accidental starting.
2. Support heavy exhaust manifolds and elbows securely during disassembly so weight does not rest on fasteners or damage mating flanges.
3. Clean all cylinder head, manifold, and elbow sealing surfaces thoroughly, taking care not to gouge or distort the machined metal faces.
4. Identify the manifold-to-cylinder head gaskets and the exhaust elbow/riser gaskets separately, and verify that the port alignment on each gasket matches its respective joint before tightening fasteners to the engine manual's specification.
5. Inspect the exhaust joints during initial operation; if any exhaust or water leak is observed, shut the engine down immediately and inspect the assembly.
