MerCruiser GM V6 Dry-Joint Exhaust Manifold Gasket Repair Kit — Standard Cooling
This exhaust manifold gasket repair kit services MerCruiser GM V6 S.B. dry-joint exhaust systems configured for standard cooling, covering 2002–2004 setups with 7-degree dry-joint risers/elbows and 2005–2010 setups with 14-degree dry-joint risers/elbows. It brings together the manifold gaskets (reference 27-99757), both restricted-flow and full-flow dry-joint elbow gaskets (references 27-864850A02 and 27-864547A02), and drain plugs supplied with O-rings for V6 standard-cooling joint service.
Configuration & Specifications
| Exhaust Joint Design | Dry-Joint |
|---|---|
| Cooling Configuration | Standard Cooling |
| Associated Riser / Elbow Angle by Year | 7-degree dry-joint riser/elbow (2002–2004 configurations); 14-degree dry-joint riser/elbow (2005–2010 configurations) |
| Included Elbow Gasket Flow Patterns | Restricted-flow (restrictor) and full-flow dry-joint elbow gaskets |
Engine Applications
This kit is configured for the MerCruiser GM V6 S.B. dry-joint, standard-cooling applications listed below. Check the installed exhaust-joint design, engine year, cooling configuration, and riser/elbow angle rather than relying on “V6” alone, and match the restrictor or full-flow elbow gasket to the required flow pattern and reference number for each joint.
- MerCruiser GM V6 S.B. Dry Joint (2002–2004) — Standard cooling; configured for use with 7-degree dry-joint riser/elbow assemblies. Fits when specified
- MerCruiser GM V6 S.B. Dry Joint (2005–2010) — Standard cooling; configured for use with 14-degree dry-joint riser/elbow assemblies. Fits when specified
Not Suitable For
This is the V6 standard-cooling version. Do not select it as an interchangeable V8, wet-joint, or closed-cooling kit based only on a shared individual gasket or drain plug reference number.
Reference Numbers
The numbers below are public identification references associated with the individual components in this kit. They are provided to assist with part identification and do not by themselves guarantee full-kit interchangeability or indicate OEM manufacturer status.

Service & Installation Notes
General service guidance only. Use the service manual for your exact engine and exhaust configuration.
- Allow the engine and exhaust system to cool completely, shut off the water supply, and secure the ignition to prevent accidental starting before servicing the exhaust joints.
- Drain the exhaust manifolds and risers/elbows, and support heavy cast components during removal and reassembly to prevent fastener damage or personal injury.
- Clean all cylinder head, manifold, and dry-joint elbow mating surfaces thoroughly, taking care not to gouge or distort the sealing flats.
- Distinguish the restricted-flow (restrictor) dry-joint elbow gasket from the full-flow dry-joint elbow gasket by flow pattern and OEM reference number, and install the exact flow configuration specified by the engine manual for each joint.
- Inspect the O-ring seats before installing the drain plugs with O-rings, and tighten all exhaust fasteners in the sequence and to the torque values specified in your service manual.
- After reassembly and restoring cooling water supply, run the engine at idle and inspect all gasket joints and drain plugs for exhaust or water leaks; stop the engine immediately and inspect if leakage or overheating occurs.
The Serdamarine Approach
Exhaust parts need a configuration match. Serdamarine focuses on marine exhaust manifolds and their related service parts. Application details, connection requirements and public reference numbers are presented together to support part selection.
Questions Before Replacement
How do the 7-degree and 14-degree references apply to this gasket kit?
The 7-degree and 14-degree angles refer to the design of the dry-joint riser/elbow used on the engine: the listed 2002–2004 MerCruiser GM V6 S.B. dry-joint configuration uses a 7-degree riser/elbow, while the listed 2005–2010 configuration uses a 14-degree riser/elbow under standard cooling.
Why does the kit include two different types of dry-joint elbow gaskets?
This kit supplies both restricted-flow (restrictor) and full-flow dry-joint elbow gaskets, corresponding to the 864850-series and 864547-series reference groups. Compare the water passage openings and required reference number for your specific standard-cooling joint location during installation.
Can I use this kit on a V8, wet-joint, or closed-cooling engine if one of the reference numbers matches?
No. Individual elbow gaskets or drain plugs may share reference numbers across multiple engine families, but this repair kit is assembled specifically for MerCruiser GM V6 S.B. dry-joint applications with standard cooling.
