- Allow the engine and exhaust components to cool completely, shut off the battery switch, and secure the engine against accidental starting before servicing.

- Fit the new O-rings to the drain plugs and tighten fasteners in the sequence and specification required by the engine service manual.
- After installation, inspect all exhaust joints and drain-plug seals under normal operating conditions; shut down immediately and inspect if any water or exhaust leak is detected.
