Service & Installation Notes

1. Allow the engine and exhaust components to cool completely, shut off the system, and secure the engine against accidental starting before servicing the exhaust joint.
2. Support the exhaust elbow/riser while loosening fasteners so the weight of the assembly does not damage mating surfaces or attached hoses.
3. Verify that the gasket matches the AQ-era 857618 manifold-to-elbow joint and any installed aftermarket exhaust equipment (such as HGE). Do not substitute a manifold-to-engine gasket at the 857618-type exhaust elbow joint.
4. Clean and inspect the manifold and elbow mating flanges, taking care to protect the sealing surfaces from gouges or warping before installing the replacement gasket according to the engine manufacturer's manual.
5. After reassembly, inspect the joint during initial operation and stop the engine immediately for inspection if any exhaust or sealing abnormality is observed.
