Service & Installation Notes

- Ensure the engine is completely cool, shut off the fuel and battery supply to prevent accidental starting, and properly support heavy exhaust components before disassembly.
- Clean and inspect all manifold, elbow, and exhaust tube sealing surfaces while protecting the mating faces from gouges or scoring.
- Verify whether your manifold-to-elbow joint requires the open gasket or the closed-cooling gasket and match the passage pattern to your cooling configuration; do not assume both manifold-to-elbow gaskets are intended to be installed together.
- Confirm the 4-inch exhaust bellows (32-44348T) and new-style manifold gasket (27-815528) align properly with all ports and mounting surfaces before tightening hardware according to the engine manufacturer's manual.
- After reassembly, monitor the exhaust and cooling connections during initial operation; if any water or exhaust leak or abnormal temperature occurs, stop the engine immediately and inspect the joint.

A shared individual component number does not make the complete repair kit compatible with non-MerCruiser engines; the full combination is configured for 1982–1995 MerCruiser 3.0L and 3.0LX wet-joint new-style sterndrive systems.
