Service & Installation Notes

1. Shut down the engine, prevent accidental starting, and allow the exhaust manifold and cooling water to cool completely before servicing the drain point.
2. Compare the replacement drain hardware with the original fitting removed from the manifold, checking thread form, seating surface and plug style before installation.
3. Clean rust, scale or old thread debris from the manifold drain port while protecting the threads and sealing surface from damage.
4. Install the drain plug assembly according to the procedures in your engine service manual without over-tightening, then inspect the drain port for leaks under normal operating conditions; stop the engine and recheck if leakage occurs.
