- Allow the engine and exhaust system to cool completely, shut off necessary seacocks or fluid lines, and disconnect the battery to prevent accidental starting before servicing.
- Support the weight of the exhaust mixing elbow and connected hoses during removal, and clean and inspect the mating flange surfaces without gouging or damaging the metal.
- Verify the alignment of the replacement mixing elbow with the manifold or turbocharger outlet and exhaust hose connections following the procedures in your Yanmar service manual.
- After installation, inspect all joints under normal operating conditions; if any exhaust gas or cooling water leakage is observed, stop the engine immediately and recheck the assembly.
