Service & Installation Notes
General service guidance only. Use the service manual for your exact engine and exhaust configuration.
- Ensure the engine is shut down, completely cool, and secured against accidental starting before servicing the exhaust manifold-to-elbow joint.
- Support the exhaust elbow during removal and installation, and clean both mating surfaces thoroughly without gouging or warping the sealing faces.
- Compare the water passage layout and joint profile of the new gasket against the removed gasket and your engine's raw-water cooling configuration before assembly.
- Tighten fasteners to the sequence and torque values specified in your engine service manual, then inspect the joint for exhaust or water leaks during initial operation with proper cooling water supply; shut down immediately if any leak or abnormal temperature occurs.
The Serdamarine Approach
Exhaust parts need a configuration match. Serdamarine focuses on marine exhaust manifolds and their related service parts. Application details, connection requirements and public reference numbers are presented together to support part selection.
Questions Before Replacement
Can I use this gasket on any MerCruiser Dry Joint exhaust system?
No. Standard Wet Joint and Dry Joint exhaust systems use different joint interfaces. For 0M and up GM V6 and V8 small-block engines, this gasket applies only to the specified Dry Joint "Alternative" arrangement under raw-water cooling, not to all Dry Joint exhaust assemblies.
Does this gasket fit fresh-water (closed) cooling or spacer setups?
This gasket is designated for sealing the exhaust manifold-to-elbow joint in the listed raw-water-cooled applications (cross-referenced to restrictor gasket Sierra 18-0897). Raw-water, fresh-water, and manifold-and-spacer gasket types are cataloged separately According to the cooling path required.
